Who should make my orthotics?

A custom orthotic should be fabricated by a physician who does not make the same device for every individual.  No two feet are a like.  No two people are alike.  The orthotic should not only match the foot type, but the sport or activities the patient performs.  There is no one way to make an orthotic for all individuals.  At NJ Heel Pain Centers we use casting and 3D computerized scanning techniques depending on the individual.  We have a certified pedorthist who can fit you with the orthotics and if needed shoes.  Podiatrists spend four years in the learning and making of orthotics. 
Unlike chiropractors and physical therapists, podiatrists have actually made orthotics at one time.  So, we can look at an orthotic and see if it was made properly.
