Is a heel spur causing the pain?

Heel spurs are not painful.  The pain is from a condition called plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that is attached to the heel bone.  This ligament is constantly pulling on the heel bone, which increases tension in the area.  The bone gets traumatized and then there is microscopic bleeding.  In order to protect the area, the bone lays down more calcium, which is called a spur.  You are not walking on the spur.  In fact, there are millions of people with heel spurs and they don’t know it.
