Does a heel spur need to be removed?
Since heel spurs are not painful, it is extremely rare that a heel spur on the bottom of the foot needs to be removed. There are heel spurs that are located at the back of the heel. Occasionally, these are removed, but due to modern technological procedures, like ESWT (extra-corporeal shock wave therapy), cryosurgery and PRP (platelet-rich plasma), it is rare.
